Disney has taken another step in its previously announced partnership with Epic Games, releasing a special island to celebrate Disneyland’s 70th anniversary. From 6 November, Fortnite players will be able to visit the new Disneyland Game Rush island (Code: 4617-4819-8826) to explore a world of theme park mini-games and explorable areas filled with cutesy easter eggs.

What to expect of Fortnite‘s Disneyland Game Rush island
Disneyland Game Rush island is modelled after Disneyland and nearby park Disney California Adventure, with players able to wander the space between both parks, as well as take on mini-games inspired by theme park rides, answer Disney trivia, crack open special island-exclusive gifts (such as Mickey Ears), and more.
There’s seven major mini-games you can find on the island, directly inspired by Haunted Mansion, the Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and other iconic park rides. As shared by IGN, each mini-game is its own experience, with various levels of challenge.
Haunted Mansion: Scavenger Haunt tasks you with exploring the iconic Haunted Mansion ride, collecting coins, and stumbling across ghosts. Star Wars: Stoormtrooper Showdown lets you board a space ship and dispatch Stormtroopers as quickly as you can. Matterhorn: Slip-and-Climb sees you attempting to climb the Matterhorn using a grappling hook, with various challenges that get in the way.
For those Disneyland fans who want a taste of the iconic park, or perhaps those who feel nostalgic for the world of Disneyland Adventures, this new experience seems like a robust and smartly-designed way to indulge in that love.
While this isn’t a fully-fledged Disneyland experience – you’re fairly limited in where you can explore – it’s a nice precursor to whatever Disney and Epic Games have planned next.
What’s next for Disney’s Epic Games partnership?
As announced, Disney is currently developing a much larger collaboration with the world of Fortnite, described as an ‘expansive and open games and entertainment universe’ that brings together Disney’s biggest properties.
Early concept artwork has revealed various islands inspired by Disney IP, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wreck-it Ralph, and Star Wars, as well as Disney Cruise Line, ESPN, Marvel, Disney+, and more.
‘In addition to being a world-class games experience and interoperating with Fortnite, the new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more,’ the company said in early 2024.
‘Players, gamers and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love.’
For now, the fruits of Disney’s USD $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games haven’t been fully revealed, with Disneyland Game Rush being just a stepping stone to something much more ambitious. We’ll have to stay tuned to see how Disney’s plans for a Fortnite universe evolve.
