Insomniac Games and Marvel Games struck up a partnership over a decade ago, working together to release the critically-acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man. Since then, the two companies have worked on a major sequel, as well as the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, spotlighting one of the most popular characters in the Marvel universe.

Marvel Games plans to continue working with Insomniac Games well into the future
In a new interview with Game Informer, Haluk Mentes, General Manager of Marvel Games, has confirmed the partnership between Insomniac and Marvel will continue for ‘many years to come,’ as both companies plan to continue working together on major adaptations expanding the Marvel universe.
‘We happen to be here now, carrying this torch, and we feel we have a debt of gratitude to deliver for the players and future creators, whose first encounter with Marvel might well be one of our games,’ Mentes said of the Marvel Games mission.
‘We also actively seek collaborators that want to take on the same mantle. As is usually the case, once we complete a project together, they, too, become “Marvel.” Marvel’s Wolverine with our dear friends at Insomniac Games is perhaps the epitome of this philosophy … It was our shared culture and values that brought us together, and we’re so proud to continue collaborating for many years to come.’
With Marvel’s Wolverine set to launch in 2026, the indication of a continued partnership beyond this has sparked plenty of intrigue about what’s next. And what’s even more notable is that we might actually know what’s next already.
What’s next for Insomniac Games and Marvel Games?
In late 2023, Insomniac Games suffered a significant hack that led to internal company data being shared online. To be as clear as possible: the hack was egregious, particularly given it included personal data pertaining to employees, who were left vulnerable by the information shared.
For those with a burning curiosity, it did also provide a roadmap for Insomniac Games, revealing tidbits about early plans for upcoming games. This roadmap included some games which have seemingly been cancelled or pushed back – such as a Venom game which had been planned for 2025 – but it also included the intriguing prospect of a third Spider-Man game, and a potential X-Men game set for 2030.
While 2030 feels a long, long time away, the idea of an X-Men game spinning out of Marvel’s Wolverine is an exciting one. With Mentes referring to a partnership that will continue for many years, this reported X-Men game could actually be a lynchpin in Marvel Games’ future strategy.
Marvel’s Wolverine certainly looks like it’ll pave the way for new, blockbuster stories set within Insomniac’s version of the Marvel universe, and it would be a logical next step for Wolverine, to have his world open up further.
Given reports Marvel’s Wolverine could include members of the X-Men to lay the foundations for this future story, we’ll likely get a better idea of what’s to come shortly.
Marvel Games is reportedly very enthusiastic about continuing its partnership with Insomniac well into the future, suggesting both companies are planning a bright future for their shared game universe.

Frantic cooking game Overcooked is reportedly being adapted into a competitive reality TV show, with A24 developing the project for Netflix. The news arrives courtesy of Deadline, which likened the project to similar Netflix reality shows like Nailed It! and Floor Is Lava. With these examples, we can expect any adaptation will lean heavily into the absurdity of Overcooked, for maximum drama.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Overcooked is a multiplayer cooking game premised on bizarre circumstances. As you begin, you’re simply working alongside your fellow chefs to create meals, one ingredient at a time – chopping food, plating up, and washing dishes.
