The Fairfax press has been stirring the pot over that hoary old Melbourne v Sydney film funding tension.

With Melbourne doubling for Sydney in The Tender Hook, The Age is happily reporting that producers Michelle Harrison and John Brousek came south after being rejected by the NSWFTO.

Brousek reckons the picture has come in “10% to 15% cheaper than if it had been shot in Sydney”. With even more gratuitous hugs for the Victorian industry by claiming that “It’s hungrier down here… [the government] “gets behind its producers here; it’s a long-term thing. And now we have a proper studio. It’s not as big (as Fox Studios), but it’s as well equipped and a lot cheaper.”
