In Australia, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards are a strange creature on the edge of the screen sector. Based in Brisbane, owned by Queensland Events, aimed outside our shores, disconnected from any screenings program, surrounded by translators, it can’t be defined by the usual practical arguments for an institution.
