This session perhaps should have been called Is Your Doc a Format – And If Not, Maybe It Should Be, because an ongoing theme of this Conference is the rise of reality TV, not only to dominate factual content but all content, producing bigger ratings than drama at a lesser cost.

This session demonstrated just how well thought out the world of formats is. There is an association which Nat Geo CEO David Lyle is a member of, that helps its members to sort out disputes about who owns which format.
