Generations of Australian children have grown up with Play School, which is still going strong after more than 50 years. This week’s NAIDOC Week special of the perennial ABC favourite caught the eye of ArtsHub’s usually cynical Performing Arts Editor, Richard Watts. ‘Doubtless some curmudgeon somewhere will have dismissed the first episode of Play School ever to be hosted by an all-Indigenous line-up of presenters as “virtue signalling” and “nothing but a gesture,” but what a gesture it was,’ Watts said.
