Screen Producers Australia (SPA) are conducting their second annual financial census of the independent film and television industry in Australia. All production companies are invited to take part regardless of SPA membership status. The survey closes this Friday, 9 August.

To sweeten the deal, every organisation to complete the survey can go in the running to win a complementary Gold Pass to Screen Forever (12-14 November 2019, Melbourne), and that’s actually a very valuable prize.

This survey takes its cue from the Producers’ Alliance for Cinema and Television’s (PACT) annual census into screen production in the UK and gathers data on the revenue, expenses and staff of Australian screen production companies.

Deloitte Access Economics will again be in charge of conducting the survey, which informs the Screen Production in Australia report, a national paper providing reliable information on the production sector for production business, policy makers and key decision makers.

In the SPA press release, CEO Matthew Deaner said:

‘Last year the Screen Production in Australia report provided evidence-based data that has given us an invaluable insight into the health of the Australian production sector, employment, trade and investment. This data has already aided SPA in attracting government attention and public policy support for our industry, and I look forward to seeing the trends that emerge from this year’s report. I encourage all production businesses to contribute to this critical piece of work by completing the survey.’

Film Victoria, Media Super, Screen Queensland and Create NSW are key partners on the project.

All responses to the survey will be kept in confidence, and the information will only be used in aggregated form for the purposes of the census report.
