Evan Williams, film critic for The Australian for 33 years, has died at the age of 84.

Sandra Hall, a prominent reviewer for the Sydney Morning Herald and known to be forthright, is grateful for his support. The two families became friends. ‘He was a great film buff,’ she says, ‘and had a high end film projector in his house. We would do lunches and screen a film.
