Feral pups and wayward boys are tamed in Backtrack Boys. Image courtesy of the production.
This heartwarming Australian documentary is a must-see if you missed its festival and theatrical run last year. Backtrack Boys comes recommended by Screenhub Editor David Tiley. The film’s website also cites praise from the likes of Russell Crowe, David Stratton and parenting expert Steve Biddulph. Written, directed, shot and produced by Catherine Scott (who we interviewed here), the doco follows troubled teen boys headed for jail, but saved by the tough-talking freewheeling Jackaroo, Bernie Shakeshaft. His groundbreaking youth program, based in rural NSW, involves training dogs and traveling with his legendary dog jumping team.
