When Dr Gong Yu takes the stage at a podium in a television market, industry strategists pay very careful attention. He has been watched like a hawk at MIPCOM in October 2018 and the Hong Kong Filmart in March 2019. 

He is the founder and CEO of IQiyi, an online streaming platform headquartered in Beijing which is claimed to have over 500 million active users watching six billion hours each month in a country of around 1.4bn people. Those are huge numbers, viscerally incomprehensible in our world.
