Screen Australia Documentary Guidelines: gets sensible, abandons alliteration

The Screen Australia fact-finding crew is back, and anxious filmmakers wait to unpack the cargo. It is a mix of camp pie, survival rations and tins full of sand. But who gets what, and in what proportions, is the unanswered question. [This is Back of Beyond, of course].

Key to the new approach is that the notional allocations to broadcasters have been restored, thus removing the implacable hostility of both the ABC and the producers who customarily deal with broadcasters, all of whom claimed that certainty was absolutely vital. Hard to swallow is the fact that the Screen Australia cuts fall disproportionately on the documentary sector.
