The Ozzies successfully launched

The Ozzies, building on the Ozflix infrastructure, did very well on their first ever incarnation before an audience.

It’s takeoff time for the Ozzies. Image: Bruce Spence as The Gyro Captain in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, reproduced by Ozflix to advertise its program on his five favourite Australian films. 

Last year at the AACTA Awards, Lion swept the pool. It was beautifully made on all levels, on a modest budget of around $16m in AU$ which led to $186m in box office around the world, backed by the Weinstein Company. Audiences and industry opinion came together and no-one can really object to those Best Film and Best Director awards.
