Gender Matters picks winners and hits the ground running

Crossed fingers throughout the screen industry as it confronts the ugly problem of gender inequality with $3m to fund new projects.

On Tuesday 12 July 2016, Screen Australia announced the results of the Brilliant Stories and Brilliant Careers strands in the Gender Matters program. $3m has been committed to 45 story ideas and thirteen industry projects. There are eighteen feature films, which is about 2/3 of a year’s slate; eleven online projects into an expanding area; and sixteen television projects which is probably more than a year’s worth of television. There is a lot of overlap between the television and online spaces too.
