Disney+: new this week
The Muppet Show – 4 February
Special (2026). Our world needs Kermit, Miss Piggy and the whole gang more than ever before. So thank goodness, The Muppet Show is returning in 2026 with a special event on Disney+ marking the 50th anniversary of the original variety series.
Produced by Seth Rogen and featuring guest star Sabrina Carpenter (who is also executive producer), the hope is that this special will serve as a ‘backdoor pilot’ for a potential new season of the iconic series.
Bombing Pompeii – 4 February
Special (2023). During August and September 1943, Allied forces dropped over 165 bombs on Pompeii to dislodge German soldiers, causing significant damage and leaving up to 10 unexploded bombs in unexcavated areas. This 43-minute documentary special from National Geographic follows a scientific team using advanced technology to locate these ticking time bombs.

Marvel’s Wonder Man – 28 January
Series. This brand-new eight-part series – the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – introduces us to aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) who is struggling to get his career off the ground.
During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley), an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić) is remaking the superhero film ‘Wonder Man‘. These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.
Tracker Season 3 – 28 January
Series. This action drama series stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a skilled survivalist and tracker who, driven by the troubles of his past, earns his living by assisting law enforcement and private citizens in exchange for reward money.
Hoops, Hopes & Dreams – 19 January
Documentary short. This 20-minute film by artist Glenn Kaino sheds light on the untold story of how Dr Martin Luther King Jr and an all-star team of civil rights activists took to basketball courts to connect with young voters, and how their strategy echoed in politics through President Obama’s historic campaign.
The documentary made its debut at Sundance 2025 before snagging Best Documentary Short at the Cleveland International Film Festival. It blends historical footage, vivid animation and thoughtful interviews with voices like Andrew Young, Jemele Hill and Jerry West, among others.
FX’s The Beauty – 22 January
Series. This new science-fiction series created by Ryan Murphy and Matt Hodgson takes a leaf (or a limb?) from Hollywood’s newfound obsession with body horror (think The Substance). When international supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways, FBI Agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) uncover a conspiracy that threatens the future of humanity. The investigation leads them directly into the crosshairs of The Corporation (Ashton Kutcher), who will stop at nothing to protect his trillion-dollar empire.
Tell Me Lies Season 3 – 13 January
Series. The third season of this romantic drama follows Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) as they’ve rekindled their tumultuous romance, just in time for spring semester at Baird College.
While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with. Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviours. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.
Pole to Pole with Will Smith – 14 January
Series. Inspired by his late mentor to explore life’s big questions, Will Smith throws himself into incredible challenges for 100 days: skiing to the South Pole, catching a giant anaconda, milking a venomous tarantula, climbing mountains, and diving under the ice of the North Pole. He will venture from pole to pole in the company of scientists, explorers and local experts.
Hey A.J.! – 14 January
Children’s series. This brand-new, high-energy animated series is based on the Hey, A.J. books by the former Super Bowl Champion and children’s book author Martellus Bennett. The show follows A.J., a curious and extremely imaginative 7-year-old girl. Whether imagining a long car drive is an exciting rocket ride or turning a grocery store line into a dance party, A.J. uses her big imagination to make any situation more fun and exciting.
A Thousand Blows Season 2 – 9 January
Series. This British historical drama series is inspired by the Forty Elephants, an all-female crime syndicate who clash with the world of illegal bare-knuckle boxing in 1880s East London.
Picking up a year after the events of the first season, season two finds Hezekiah as a shadow of the man he once was, while Sugar Goodson is estranged from his family and drinking himself to death. Just as Wapping is about to sigh its last breath, Mary Carr bursts back into town with her loyal second, Alice Diamond. In Mary’s absence, Eliza’s failed reign as Queen has led to her exile, while Indigo Jeremy has taken back control of the Elephants.
Meanwhile, Mary is back to reassemble the Forty Elephants and reclaim her crown. She sobers Sugar up, as she has a use for him yet, and forms a reluctant alliance with Hezekiah to take down Indigo Jeremy once and for all. As always, Mary has a plan. And this time it’s riskier than ever.
