Box office hit Boy has capped off its award-winning record-breaking year with a big pat on the back from Kiwis all over New Zealand, taking home the major trophies at the inaugural Visa Entertainment Screen Awards. These People’s Choice awards for the big screen were dished out at a star-studded ceremony last night, hosted by Kate Rodger, from TV3’s Reel Late with Kate.

13 year old James Rolleston, who plays Boy in the film, won Best NZ Actor, despite tough competition from big name actors, Sam Neill, Taika Waititi and Martin Henderson. Rolleston also won Best Newcomer, Waititi won Best Director, and they finished the evening off with the big award of the night, Best NZ Film.
