Along with the rest of the US, the trades got a look at long-coming The Warrior’s Way last week. Sadly for the much-vaunted future of Eurasian co-production, they weren’t overly impressed with the result.

It’s rarely a good sign when the positive comments in a review are directed (with all respect to the work of the people involved) at the craft rather than the result. That was the case in most of the early reviews.Screen Daily found a couple of positives: “with his tangerine hue, cinematographer Woo-hyung Kim’s saturated frames … beckon mightily” and “the score and musical selections are more varied and interesting than one might expect.”
