In the case between tattooist S. Victor Whitmill and Warner Brothers over The Hangover II, a US court has handed down a judgement to dissatisfy all concerned, not least Maori.

Whitmill “created” and applied the tattoo that adorns the face of former boxer, occasional ear-eater and now actor Mike Tyson. A similar design – neither designed nor applied by Whitmill – adorns the face of actor Ed Helms in the upcoming Hangover sequel. Whitmill brought an action against Warner Brothers last week to attempt to delay the release of The Hangover II (which opens this week) and also to try to claim a US$30 million payday for his work “being ripped”.
