The alternative Oscars, usually rewards for films that don’t go on to win the following day, this year gave the front-runners in the Academy’s Best Film and Best Foreign Film a big thumbs up, rewarding The Artist four times and A Separation once.
Several other Oscar nominated films were also in the frame in various categories and one notable absentee from the Oscar nominations list, Steve James’ The Interrupters, took home the Best Documentary gong.
