The nominees for the 82nd edition of the Golden Globes have been announced, with nominees across 27 categories that include film and television.
Jacques Audiard’s French musical crime film Emilia Pérez leads film nominations with 10, ahead of The Brutalist with seven and Conclave with six. In television, nominations are led by The Bear with five and Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun and with four each. In terms of distributors, Netflix dominates both film nominations (with 13) and TV (with 23 nominations), nine ahead of the next best, the combined HBO/Max.
Two women were nominated for best director, Coralie Fargeat (The Substance) and Payal Kapadia (All We Imagine as Light), while directors of two of the year’s biggest films, Wicked and Dune: Part Two were overlooked. There’s also been talk of a ‘snubbing’ of Deadpool and Wolverine.

Australians nominated for 2025 Golden Globes
Australian feature film Memoir of a Snail is nominated for Best Motion Picture Animated, while actors Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Guy Pearce and Naomi Watts have also received nods.
Kidman is nominated for her standout performance in erotic thriller film Babygirl, while Pearce is nominated for the film The Brutalist. Blanchett and Watts are competing in the category of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology or Motion Picture Made for TV: Blanchett for Disclaimer, and Watts for Feud: Capote vs The Swans.
A Robbie Williams song from the Melbourne-made Better Man also received a nod.
Winners will be announced at the 2025 Golden Globes on Monday, Jan 6, 2025 (Australian time) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The host will be comedian Nikki Glaser who is also nominated for Stand-Up Comedy in TV. The ceremony will also see Viola Davis receive the Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award for career achievement in film. Ted Danson will also receive the Carol Burnett Award for his TV career.

Catch all the glitz and glam of the Golden Globes on Monday 6 January from 11am AEDT Live On Channel 10, followed by the official Awards Ceremony from 12pm AEDT. The official Awards Ceremony will also be available to stream on 10 Play from 4.30pm AEDT and Paramount+ from 7pm AEDT that same day, plus an encore presentation on 10 that evening from 7.30pm.
