Cinematographer Andrew Lesnie dies aged 59

The gifted and generous cinematographer of The Lord of the Rings films passed away yesterday after suffering a heart attack.

Oscar-winning cinematographer Andrew Lesnie, whose collaborations with director Peter Jackson included The Hobbit trilogy and The Lord of the Rings, is believed to have died of a heart attack on Monday. News of his death broke on Tuesday afternoon.

He was 59.
