The 7th Byron Bay International Film Festival has announced its opening night film – a searing insight into women’s rights in India titled The World Before Her – just in time for V-Day, One Billion Rising’s largest day of action to stop violence against women.

Winner of the Best Documentary at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, The World Before Her is a spellbinding film about the changing identity and role of women in India and mirrors the intention of V-Day, which is a call to arms to end mistreatment of women throughout the world.
