The Australian Dream comes into the cinema market hobbled by the fact that it is the second film about Adam Goodes and a lot of enthusiasts will feel they have already seen it. Even worse, The Final Quarter was run in full on Network Ten.
While Madman invested a lot of emotional capital and might be a bit disappointed, the film is still doing pretty well. In its second week it gained four screens to reach 105 and added another $121,000 to the box office, taking it to just under $700,000. But Madman bravely pushed it out to the burbs where it is not doing well, so the screen average is a dismal $1151/screen.
