A dog, a beaver, a shark and two horses made the top ten list of ads most moaned about in 2009. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has released its annual report for 2009, detailing the cons and escape-artists of the advertising world. Ads in all media racked up 1,339 complaints, about 829 separate adverts.

The numbers were up from 2008, when 1,246 complaints were laid about 703 adverts. Of the 2009 crop, 510 were deemed to be duplicates, 366 to have “no grounds to proceed”, and 89 were withdrawn, resolved, adjourned or received no adjudication, leaving a grand total of 374 to be dealt with.
