Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 arrived jam-packed with a host of new video game announcements from developers all over the world. While it was a lower-key showcase compared to prior years, there were still major announcements in the form a new Witcher 3 remaster, the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake, a new Worms and a very exciting new RollerCoaster Tycoon game from developer Springloaded (Let’s Build a Zoo).
We also got new trailers for Crazy Taxi World Tour, Exodus, Gears of War: E-Day, Metro 2039, Pony Island 2 Panda Circus, Sea of Remnants, Silent Hill Townfall, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Zoopunk, Mariachi Legends, Warlock: Dungeons and Dragons, and more.

The Witcher 3 Remastered
CD Projekt Red closed out Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 with the announcement of a new remaster for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, releasing 29 September as both a standalone release and a free upgrade for all existing owners of the game on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This remaster includes overhauled combat, new skills and some visual refreshments.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake was announced by developer Ubisoft during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. This is a major refresh of the original HoMM 3, which released way back in 1999, and features new visuals and upgrades for gameplay, with some neat twists for new and returning players.
It will release for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2027.
Rainbow Six Tactics
Ubisoft also had another major game to reveal during the show – Rainbox Six Tactics, a new single-player Rainbow Six game that adapts XCOM-like strategy combat. In rounds of tactical gameplay, players will corral a crew of heroes and deploy their unique abilities to make an impact on various battlefields.

Lego Skylines
Lego Skylines got a major reveal trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. This is a new Lego-themed city builder where you can create your own thriving cities using Lego bricks. This game is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 and does not have a confirmed release date.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
Upcoming RPG Final Fantasy 7 Revelation got a brand new trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 giving a fresh look at the action. This particular trailer showed off small glimpses at combat against towering bosses, the return of Sephiroth, and the impact new arrivals Cid and Vincent will have on the core adventuring team of heroes, following the events of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
For now, Revelation remains undated but is expected to release in the Southern Hemisphere Autumn of 2027.
Worms: Galactic Tactics
Would you still love me if I was a worm? At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, Team17 popped in to announce Worms: Galactic Tactics, a brand new game in the long-running Worms strategy combat series. This is a roguelike take on the game with elements of tactical gameplay and more cloistered stages that require deeper thinking.
Worms: Galactic Tactics is set to release for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
Also announced during the show is that another new Worms game is on the way, and it looks to be a remaster of the original 1995 game.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks
For those in the mood for even more nostalgia, Atari popped into Gamescom Opening Night Live to confirm the return of the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise. While there have been a few other middling RollerCoaster Tycoon games in recent years, the newly-announced Wonderworks is one to watch due to its developers.
It’s in the works at Springloaded, which has developed a number of excellent management simulators in the past, including the very moreish Let’s Build a Zoo. We hope the studio brings the same sensibility to Wonderworks, which is heading to early access on PC in future.
Humankind 2
A major sequel to 4X game Humankind was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. This title will expand the remit of the original, allowing players to explore and develop various civilisations as they look to rewrite history, conquer vast landscapes, or learn to work alongside their nearest rivals.
Humankind 2 launches for PC in 2027.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros got its major gameplay reveal during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. This is an upcoming real-time strategy game that loosely adapts the events of the Game of Thrones TV series while allowing you to forge a new future for the Iron Throne.
Notably, this game is in development with PlaySide, one of Australia’s biggest video game developers and publishers.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is currently in development for PC and will release in 2027.
Turok: Origins
Turok: Origins, the next game in the long-running Turok series got a brand new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. It revealed more about its futuristic dinosaur-filled world, revealing cinematic glimpses at a fight for survival against a backdrop of various beautiful natural terrains.
Turok: Origins is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, and will release in the Southern Hemisphere Autumn of 2027.
Path of Exile 2
At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, New Zealand-based developer Grinding Gear Games confirmed its popular action RPG Path of Exile 2 will exit early access on 11 December.
The full 1.0 release of the game will feature additional polish and other upgrades for those fans who’ve waited patiently for its final form.
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
One of the lesser-known but equally cool games that appeared during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 was There Are No Ghosts at the Grand, a musical mystery adventure that follows a young man who inherits a strange dilapidated hotel in England, only to find it’s more than it seems. With a fairly compelling concept and hints at its musical nature, the new trailer for the game painted a very interesting picture.
There are No Ghosts at the Grand is set to launch for PC in early access in December 2026.
