Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis has been nominated for eight Oscars, including best picture.
At the announcement in Los Angeles early on Wednesday morning, fellow Australian Cate Blanchett was nominated in the best actress category for her role as an orchestral conductor in Tár.
The nomination announcements were made in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning. The 95th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel as host, will take place on 13 March (AEDT).
