The world is getting darker and stranger. Cosy games won’t fix it, but they certainly help.

As a salve to your troubles, Steam, Rogue Duck Interactive, and Gamersky Games have now opened their joint Relaxing Event, a new demo, discount, and showcase hub for new and upcoming cosy games. It shines a spotlight on various games with cosy aspects, separating them into segments focused on cosy activities.

You can explore games that allow you to relax with cleaning mechanics, cooking mechanics or relaxing job-like mechanics. There are also sections for cosy farming games, fishing games, mining games, idlers, and games that are just a little bit satisfying.

No matter which area you choose to explore, you’ll find an array of small, cosy experiences, including some under-the-radar titles.

Going at your own pace, exploring everything this event has to offer, is recommended. But we’ve already spotted some excellent cosy, relaxing and artful experiences we’d love to highlight.

One of these is Omelet You Cook. This is a cooking rogue-like that requires you to assemble omelettes, based on customer requests. These aren’t always straightforward, but they’re always superb fun to put together. You’re essentially throwing ingredients onto a core omelette, looking to maximise your ingredient combinations, while a timer ticks down.

It is somewhat stressful, as you’re timed and judged against set criteria – but, with a lovely pixel aesthetic and very fun challenges, you’ll want to keep moving forward, serving more customers and perfecting your omelette-making skills.

Of course, there are plenty of other, slower-paced experiences in the lot, too.

Undusted: Letters from the Past is a cosy experience where you can take time dusting objects and learning more about their stories.

Instants and Pieced Together are companion titles about putting together scrap books and photo albums, while discovering the stories of the individuals pictured. Pieced Together is particularly lovely (and devastating) as it explores the relationship of two young adults who fell out.
