Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting its next major expansion on 17 December (AEDT), introducing powerful new Mega Pokémon cards (Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur), as well as new collectible full art cards, and more. The theme here appears to be big, powerful Pokémon, with the new cards spotlighting plenty of hard-hitting creatures from generation one.
There does also appear to be some inclusions from Pokémon X & Y here, with iconic trainer Serena getting a trainer card, alongside Clemont, the Gym Leader of Lumiose City. We’re also getting a new Solosis, with this featuring a very cheeky Pikachu in the background, as well as cards featuring Trubbish, Ditto, Sunflora, and Spritzee.
For now, the exact size of this upcoming expansion hasn’t been confirmed, but we do expect it will be a smaller set, given there appears to be only one booster pack to pull from. That follows the typical cadence of Pokémon TCG Pocket, which tends to alternate between small and large packs with each new release.

Pokemon TCG Pocket: Crimson Blaze – First trailer
Notably, a new item included in Pokemon TCG Pocket: Crimson Blaze looks set to shake up the balance of power in matches: Quick-Grow Extract. When played, this card allows you to choose one card capable of Mega Evolution, and then put a ‘random Pokémon from your deck that evolves from that Pokémon onto that Pokémon to evolve it.’
Given the wording, it does appear this card might allow you to instantly Mega Evolve a Pokémon, or at the very least, speed evolution so you gain an immediate advantage on the battlefield. For any folks running a Mega Evolution-focussed deck, it’s a must-have card that should prove very handy.
What else is coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket
Alongside the new Crimson Blaze expansion, Pokémon TCG Pocket will be getting a range of new covers and backdrops with this latest update, featuring Charizard doing some cool poses. We also expect there’ll be a range of new mini-events around the launch, as well as the typical quest challenges, and battles.
For now, that’s about all we know about everything coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket, but that should be plenty to keep you occupied. Those players who’ve been avidly pulling from Mega Rising over the last month should be nearing the end of their collection, so this latest set arrives with great timing.
Those keen to jump straight into Pokémon TCG Pocket: Crimson Blaze can do so from 5:00 pm AEDT on 17 December 2025.

Somewhere in Ubisoft’s office, I suspect there is a great big button with bold text on the front: RE-RELEASE RAYMAN 2. And when everything is quiet, and the world feels in need of a fantastic platformer, the button is clicked, and so it is that Rayman 2: The Great Escape releases onto yet another console for yet another generation. All this to say, Rayman 2 is set to release on Nintendo Switch Online, alongside the slightly-less-loved platformer Tonic Trouble, on 17 December.
Rayman 2 has certainly earned its spot amongst a host of other brilliant Nintendo 64-era games on Nintendo Switch Online. It remains one of the best platformers of its era, with fantastical worlds and unique characters buoying an occasionally grimdark story about interspecies conflict.
