It’s a brand new year, and that means brand new video games. While there’s fewer new titles this week than usual, that doesn’t make the latest arrivals any less worthy.
For those looking for a cosy post-apocalyptic building simulator, the console launch of I Am Future should go down well. StarRupture will also serve these players, in its mix of combat and open world base-building on a strange and fantastical planet.
Horror fiends will also be well-treated this week, with the anticipated arrival of Pathologic 3, which expands the franchise into new territory. Following in the footsteps of its well-received predecessors, this psychological horror adventure sees you embodying a doctor who must deal with a mysterious plague.

The list of new video games to kick off the first working week of January 2026 may be small, but the quiet won’t last long. As announced, there’s a bundle of new titles arriving in the coming month, with next week’s games including the delightful, cosy platformer Big Hops, and the much anticipated update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which introduces new features including enhanced multiplayer, new collectible furniture, a new town location, and more.
