Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2026 officially raised USD $2.44 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, thanks to the support of avid attendees and virtual watchers. The donation means the Games Done Quick team has now donated a whopping USD $59.8 million to charity since its establishment in 2010, with dozens of annual events contributing to this total.
Each year, across an array of curated events, video game speedrunners tackle all sorts of games, performing tricks to beat timed challenges and/or complete games in the fastest time possible.

Awesome Games Done Quick, typically the first event to kick off a new year, puts a spotlight on a random assortment of games and gamers. This year, it kicked off with an Any% (complete) speedrun through classic GameCube title Super Mario Sunshine. It also featured runs through Jet Set Radio, Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Split Fiction, Luigi’s Mansion, Misc: A Tiny Tale, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, and more.
There were specialist speedruns in the mix, with one player running through Resident Evil 2 (remake) using a Guitar Hero controller, and a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 run performed in French-style cosplay. There was a 70-person race through Super Mario 64, truck races through American Truck Simulator, tense battles in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, a glitch-restricted Crash Bandicoot 3 run, and a Mario Kart World race to hit all special ? Panels.
The event also hosted special chats with speedrunners and content creators, to break up all the high-speed action. For those tuning it, there was plenty to learn, and plenty to gawk at. Speedrunning is a very intriguing art, and there were so many wild tips and tricks to absorb throughout the event.
What’s next for Games Done Quick?
This is just the start of Games Done Quick’s charity efforts in 2026, with the next major events already lined up. Following in the footsteps of AGDQ, the Black in a Flash community is hosting the Back to Black speedrunning event from 5-8 February. Frame Fatales is hosting the next iteration of the Frost Fatales speedrunning event from 8-15 March.
Summer Games Done Quick also returns this year, and will take place in Minneapolis from 5-11 July.
Heading into 2026, GDQ will continue to support a variety of charities in its fundraising endeavours, with support from major sponsors including Red Bull, LabX, and The Yetee.
