The Swinburne Film School has been the backbone of the Victorian film and television industry since 1967, and began the careers of virtually every significant filmmaker from Melbourne. Now it is facing what is almost certainly its final battle against extinction.

The death of Swinny has been a long time coming, and filmmakers have fought against it for forty years. The collapse has been so slow it has been almost imperceptible.
