John Simpson, producer from NSW, is a happy man. Surrounded by people who are a little slow off the mark on the last SPAA morning, he bouncily says, “I should be happy. Last night I won DigiSPAA”.

The project is Men’s Group, directed by Michael Joy. “The film was made completely outside any system”, Simpson said. “I created a structure where we started with no capital and brought each team member in as an equity investor, based on their time or service. They came in under a million point system, the equivalent of a million dollar low budget film.”
