SBS Studio and Foxtel’s Local Production Fund are spending approximately $2 million per year on Australian arts programs and have plans to increase their commitment, according to Laura Glassman, head of programming for STUDIO and World Movies, SBS’s subscription television channels.

STUDIO and World Movies are wholly-owned subsidiaries of SBS, the free-to-air multicultural broadcaster, and are broadcast on Foxtel as part of the basic Movies package. Since its inception in 2010 (when it replaced Ovation), STUDIO has produced more than 50 hours of exclusive, original arts content.
