Speaking at the 2013 MIPTV market in Cannes, BCC controller Ben Stephenson announced a new epic eight-part serial about the origin of Australia post-colonisation. The series will be written and produced by Jimmy McGovern (Redfern Now, Cracker) and will begin shooting next year. It will be produced by McGovern’s RSJ Films.

Stephenson said that the BBC is in talks with co-producing partners and distributors for the untitled project, which begins several months after the First Fleet arrives in Sydney Harbour.
