A reasonable demand, says Tara Judah, in her film critic mode. Aren’t we in the business of depicting ourselves? Cue opportunities for irony..

There are plenty of Australians swanning about the Croisette at Cannes. But where are their films? Looking at the festival line-up the only obvious Australian presence is The Great Gatsby. There’s a little more if you look hard enough. The problem is, you really do have to look.
