The MTV hit show Geordie Shore will head down under to shoot its sixth series later this year, David Lynn, MD of Viatel International Media Networks (VIMN) announced at the Broadcasting Summit on Tuesday. He talks about whether it is a television show with a Twitter following, or a Twitter phenomenon supported by television.

The show, a ratings hit on MTV, can best be described as a no-holds-barred Big Brother, that has taken off in the UK and many other territories. It was originally based on the US show Jersey Shore, but the UK version features a cast mostly from the northern English city of Newcastle. Students of English regional accents who are under 25 will be able to follow this program, few others will.
