Checkpoint, a short film produced under the New South Wales Film & Television Office’s Young Filmmaker Fund, has been awarded the Prix du Jury (Jury Prize) in the Official Competition for short films at the Montreal World Film Festival.

Writer/Director/Producer of Checkpoint is Ben Phelps; Tim Kreibig is also Producer. The film, about a multi-racial family stopped on a deserted road in rural Australia by a group of soldiers, captures contemporary concerns about the abuse of power in modern Australia.
