There have been dire pronouncements about an industry in trouble, coupled with glowing reviews of sparkling, unique and highly entertaining local productions. Why does a discussion of the Australian film industry arouse so much passion? Why do some people say they hate Australian films and others say they love them? Is there something different about an Australian screenplay?
