The annual Stanley Hawes Award gives a documentary person a platform at the AIDC each year to cut loose with some considered opinions about the state of the trade.

This year the recipient is James Bradley ASE. He is neither a producer nor a director but an editor. Only one other editor has won this award – Stewart Young in 2003. Pat Fiske in 2001 is the only sound person in that pantheon. We have yet to see a cinematographer or a musician or a post production person. Or for that matter a distributor or exhibitor.
