ACCC wants to regulate both media and the news

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is a hard-nosed agency with Treasury clout. It has concluded that Big Government should regulate the digital sector a whole lot more.

The conga line of enquiries into the media have been read and ignored. Eventually the government empowered the  Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to enter the fray. Its job is to promote ‘competition and fair trade in markets to benefit consumers, businesses, and the community.’ It also regulates national infrastructure.
