Environmental Films Australia (previously known as Environmental Film Festival Australia) is a volunteer-run charity based in Naarm (Melbourne) that promotes action through cinema, community and connection. We prioritise climate and environments through film, provide platforms for artists to showcase their work, and create space for people to connect and exchange solutions.
Our program navigates the relationship between humans and their environments and interrogates the way people think about the natural world. We feature films from the world’s most talented and socially-conscious filmmakers, embracing diversity and championing local, Indigenous, minority and creative voices.
Topics explored include:
– environment and environments
– sustainability
– climate justice
– Indigenous rights and stories
– connection to Country
– urban life and environmental architecture
– the awe of nature, flora and fauna
– ecology
– food and food systems
– climate catastrophe
– the interconnection between people and place
– activism and changemakers
We host pop up screenings and events throughout the year – including small community screenings – and run our flagship festival in October. We are based in Naarm (Melbourne) and support screenings across Australia.
