The 2025 REELise Film Festival offers a unique platform for emerging filmmakers 12 -24 years to showcase their short films, gain recognition, and connect with like-minded creatives and industry professionals.
Whether you’re tackling social issues, exploring personal stories, or finding your creative voice, this is your chance to share your story on the big screen. Finalists walk the red carpet, get interview experience, and compete for exciting awards.

- Who can enter: Aussies aged 12–24 (as of 1 Jan 2025)
- Deadline: Entries close 6 July 2025
- Film length: Up to 5 minutes (including credits)
- Competition theme: Connection
- Entry Fee: FREE
- Pocket and Traditional filmmaking are welcome.
- Awards & opportunities: Cash prizes, professional mentoring, red carpet screening, and national exposure.
- Prize Categories: Best Film in Junior, Intermediate and Senior age divisions, Best Pocket Film, Spirit of REELise (best lived experience storytelling), REEL Change (Best Film exploring a need for social change), and People’s Choice.
- Bonus Prize Chance: Filmmakers can also submit a “Making-of” short video (maximum length: 2 minutes) showing how they brought their film entry to life. Share funny moments, bloopers, challenges, tips, or techniques, providing insights into your creative process. This optional bonus entry won’t affect your main submission, but will give you extra exposure and a second chance at a prize win.
