Australian Story: Morning Star – Witiyana Marika – 16 March
Docuseries. Australian Story is back on our screens with a new season in 2026, with host Leigh Sales exploring the power of the personal and sharing compelling stories about real people that illuminate, entertain and inspire. New episodes drop every Monday night.
In this week’s episode: when Witiyana Marika first came to the public’s attention in 1991, he was the dreadlocked dancer and clapstick master of the hugely successful rock band Yothu Yindi. Thirty-five years later, he is fulfilling his destiny as a leader of the Rirratjingu clan in the Northern Territory’s Arnhem Land, following in the steps of his father, Roy Marika.
Morning Star is a rare insight into the rich life of a Yolgnu leader, with Australian Story gaining rare access to film the funeral of Witiyana’s brother, a traditional ceremony that stretched over two weeks.
Morning Star will go to air 8pm 16 March on ABC TV and ABC iview.
Four Corners: Toxic Tide – 16 March
Current Affairs. It’s one of the worst environmental disasters to strike Australia’s waters. Expected to be over in weeks, a year on, the South Australian algal bloom continues to devastate parts of the coastline.
As South Australians go to the polls this weekend, Four Corners investigates what the government knew about the health risks and what they told the public. Despite the toxic bloom decimating marine life, shutting down parts of the fishing industry and according to some people, leaving them sick, the government repeatedly downplayed the health effects.
Angus Grigg and the Four Corners team piece together what the government was told and its public messaging. Toxic Tide raises urgent questions about transparency, trust and accountability in times of crisis. It serves as a warning for the rest of Australia about how governments respond and communicate as climate-driven environmental disasters become more frequent and more severe.

Top End Bub – 7 March
Series. A follow-up to the smash-hit film Top End Wedding, comes this heart-warming new series starring Miranda Tapsell and Gwilym Lee.
