Last year’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives) heads the list of four directors whose new short films will combine to form Quattro 2, the annual celebration of Hong Kong commissioned by the city’s international film festival.

The Thai director will be joined by Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, awarded Best Director at Cannes in 2009 for Kinatay; Malaysian Yuhang Ho, whose At the End of Daybreak (seen here in last year’s Hong Kong Festival) won Best Actress for Ying-hung Wai at the 2010 Hong Kong Film Awards, Best Supporting Actress for Ying-hung Wai and Best Newcomer for Meng-hui Ng at the 2010 Asian Film Awards; and homeboy Stanley Kwan, one of Hong Kong’s most prominent filmmakers (Showtime, Lan Yu, Rouge) and one of very few openly gay directors working in Asia.
