Paul Henry: return pays ratings dividends

TVNZ’s Breakfast audience has enjoyed a boost since Paul Henry returned on the 1st of March. Since the start of the month, Breakfast has averaged 143,625 viewers every morning (all viewers 5+).

TVNZ’s Breakfast audience has enjoyed a boost since Paul Henry returned on the 1st of March. Since the start of the month, Breakfast has averaged 143,625 viewers every morning (all viewers 5+).

This is a significant gain on the previous fortnight’s average of 119,008. It is also well ahead of the same period last year when 127,242 were watching.
 
While Breakfast continued to grow in popularity the same couldn’t be said of Sunrise, which lost an average of almost 4,000 viewers since March 1st compared to the same period last year.
 
This year, Sunrise averaged just 21,770 viewers per morning compared to 25,717 in 2009.
 
At the other end of the day, Close Up continues to attract considerably more viewers than Campbell Live so far this yeasr. Close Up has outperformed its rival 435,970 to 190,290 in January; 417,580 to 221,680 in February; and 469,970 to 261,340 to 12 March.
