Screen Australia has opened applications for its Global Fellowships program, which is designed to support professional development for screen practitioners, as well as promote cultural exchange to expand industry networks and skills.
‘The Global Fellowships responds to the increasing importance of international engagement and collaboration in the screen industry and supports Australian screen practitioners to deepen global relationships, develop international career pathways, and strengthen the Australian screen sector through knowledge exchange and collaboration,’ Screen Australia says.

What to know about the Screen Australia Global Fellowships program
Successful applicants for the Global Fellowships progrma will be invited to undertake placements within ‘some of the world’s leading screen organisations,’ allowing exposure to global industry practice. As part of this program, practitioners will also get one-on-one mentorship and ‘hands-on experience’ to expand their repertoire.
The program is specifically designed for producers, directors, writers and development executives, although the program is open to all established screen practitioners with ‘an established professional track record and international profile’ aiming to strengthen their global networks and relationships, unlock new career opportunities, and gain knowledge of global practice.
Applicants will be representatives for Australia on the global stage, and will be selected carefully in a process likely to be highlight competitive.
Those who are selected will take part in a six-month cumulative international placement or a series of international placements and development activities over a twelve-month period. To support this trip, successful applicants will receive a grant from Screen Australia up to $80,000 or $100,000, depending on the nature of the activities.
Ten fellows per years will be supported by this program, with one funding round annually.
As confirmed, this annual round for 2026 is now open and applicants are encouraged to submit their interest by 5:00 pm AEDT on 11 February 2027.
In the months following, these applications will be assessed and successful applicants will be informed of their status and next steps.
