Pokémon TCG Pocket is finally getting a brand new expansion, with Fantastical Parade packs set to arrive on 29 January. This set is themed around vibrant celebrations, and is headlined by Mega Gardevoir, who debuts alongside a host of other new Pokémon.

For those players currently stuck in the doldrums of pulling Deluxe Pack: ex again – a set which remixes the cards from Series A, but is pretty stale, at this stage – relief is on the way.

Which Pokémon are featured in Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Fantastical Parade expansion?

As revealed, Fantastical Parade will feature a host of new cards, with many of them featuring Pokémon, mid-celebration. Early card reveals show off Oricorio dancing in a rose garden, Vanillite in a market, Pumpkaboo lighting lanterns, Meloetta shining in a forest, Ledian flying through fireworks, and Falinks marching through a balloon celebration, in full art.

In addition to Mega Gardevoir, the set will also feature Mega Mawile, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, Mimikyu ex, a silver card for Gallarian Obstagoon, Tandemaus and Maushold, and a new Metal Core Barrier tool (which strengthens steel Pokémon).

Supporter cards for Piers (a fan-favourite trainer) and Diantha will also appear, alongside a more generic Sightseer supporter, who allows you to look at the top four cards of your deck, and put all Stage 1 Pokémon into your hand.

Notably, the app will also introduce a brand new card type with this expansion: Stadiums. These appear to be game-changing cards that provide an ongoing ability, impacting battles. The first revealed card, Peculiar Plaza, makes the Retreat Cost of each Psychic Pokémon cost two less for all players.

Additional updates are coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket

As announced, the new Fantastical Parade cards aren’t the only new things coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket shortly.

From 29 January, players will be able to trade much more easily with a new message function allowing players to send set messages to each other, indicating which cards they’d like to trade. As these are set messages, you will be able to communicate in other languages, which is a neat consideration.

On the same date, players will also gain the option to participate in random solo battles, where the opponent’s deck is a surprise.

In addition to these updates, players can also expect new events for the app, including:

  • Elite Deck Gift Missions (29 January to 26 April) – ‘Players can complete missions to obtain a powerful Fire-type Elite Deck, featuring Mega Blaziken ex and Entei ex.’
  • Handy Card Collection Missions (29 January to 26 April) – ‘During this period, players can tackle special missions to obtain Trainer cards that have useful effects in battle, such as Copycat, Giant Cape and more.’
  • Mega Medicham ex Drop Event (11 February to 21 February) – ‘Players can take on special solo battles to obtain B Series promo packs vol. 4.’
  • Wonder Pick Event (14 February to 24 February) – ‘Promo cards featuring Cinderace and Alolan Vulpix will appear in wonder picks.’

If you’re still plugging away at Pokémon TCG Pocket – it’s become a lovely daily ritual for the ScreenHub team – rest assured there’s plenty of good things on the way. Even if the cards of Fantastical Parade don’t quite appeal to you, the disappearance of Deluxe Pack: ex can only be a good thing.
