Copyright owners in film and television broadcast in Australia are benefiting from a new source of income. Screenrights has distributed more than $A4million in retransmission royalties for the period 21 December 2007 to 30 June 2008.

In announcing the distribution today Screenrights Chief Executive Simon Lake said “this is a great achievement and we are pleased that such a significant return is being made to the industry at large. Increasingly copyright owners rely on a diverse range of income to continue to invest in programmaking – retransmission will be a strong ongoing source of income.”
