With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.

This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 300 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 400 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes USA, Denmark, Mexico, and UAE, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

About the role DroneShield is seeking a Motion Graphic Designer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, Australia. The position will report to Marketing Team Lead.

We are seeking a mid-senior level imaginative Motion Graphics Designer to join the Marketing Team. This role is responsible for developing compelling computer-generated (CGI) animations and cinematic visual content that brings our technology, products, and brand stories to life. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 3D animation, visual effects (VFX), and storytelling through motion.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Design and produce high-quality animated videos from concept to completion, including storyboarding, modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and compositing
  • Collaborate with the creative, marketing, and product teams to translate complex ideas and product functions into engaging visual stories
  • Work closely with scriptwriters, voiceover talent, and sound engineers to create polished final assets
  • Maintain brand consistency while pushing visual creativity across multiple formats (social, web, trade shows, presentations
  • Manage animation timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience creating CGI/3D animated content (work in motion portfolio required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, After Effects, Unreal Engine, Adobe Creative Suite, KeyShot)
  • Strong understanding of motion design principles, lighting, camera movement, and visual storytelling
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience in visualizing advanced technology, defence, aerospace, or industrial products
  • Knowledge of real-time rendering tools and asset optimization
  • Understanding of sound design integration and basic editing
