Course Overview

Triple Axel is launching a 6-week studio lab in Melbourne dedicated to mentoring emerging talent and guiding the next generation of storytellers.

In an increasingly complex media landscape, young people are exposed to high volumes of emotionally driven, often misleading content. The Digital Media Lab: Photography, Storytelling & Social Impact responds by equipping participants with the tools to critically decode visual narratives and produce their own purposeful media.

Following successful research with RMIT University, the program welcomes neurodivergent, home-schooled, refugee and diverse learners.

Grounded in media literacy development and wellbeing, our research demonstrates that when young people transition from passive consumers to active authors, cognitive resilience increases and anxiety drops.

Image-making is a powerful tool for cultural connection and social cohesion. Students learn to create compelling visual narrative campaigns, develop content with purpose and connect with real audiences.

If you’re going to learn, learn from the best.

Participants develop practical, industry-informed skills in commercial visual storytelling, branded content strategy, narrative development and editing.

Learn directly from leading Australian screen industry mentors:

  • Belle Stewart – Passionate Photographer, Media producer & Educator
  • Emmanuel Santos – Master of Fine Art Photography & Cultural Documentary Storytelling
  • Christopher Tovo – Acclaimed Cinematographer, Director & Photographer and Mentor
  • Tony Rogers – Film industry Pioneer, capacity to connect with mass audiences while maintaining a sharp, uncompromising creative edge.

What You Will Learn

  • Narrative Development Through Image: Use photographic framing and visual metaphors to expose hidden narratives, challenge bias and communicate social impact beneath surface imagery.
  • Branded Content & Narrative Architecture: Script, direct and produce short-form video campaigns designed to capture audience attention in digital environments.
  • Commercial Studio Skills: Develop practical skills in camera operation, studio lighting, set design, styling and post-production.
  • Platform Strategy: Understand branded content, digital storytelling, visual branding and multi-platform media delivery.

Do we use generative AI in our content production? No.

Triple Axel is committed to human-crafted digital media. We believe authentic human connection, creative vision and emotional storytelling are best developed through real-world collaboration and hands-on practice.

Every photograph, script, video and edit produced in this lab is created by real people using professional creative skills, equipment and production processes.
