The St Kilda Film Festival, really a short film festival, is the twentieth festival guided by Artistic Director Paul Harris. He is one of the few Melbourne film people – filmniks as actor John Flaus called them – to be a true public figure. Besides grinding out the years at St Kilda, he was also the branch manager at the National Film Theatre of Australia,  and on the boards of the Melbourne International Film Festival and of the Australian Film Institute. He also ran Film Buffs’ Forecast on 3RRR, and has turned it into a podcast after its rancorous demise.
